Another special commission can now be revealed. This time it was a present for a bride-to-be and the brief was based on the olive branch as a symbol of peace. This was apt as the couple are Greek and an olive branch design is often traditionally worn. The pendant is silver and rose gold. I'm delighted to hear that it was well received and wish the couple a long and happy future ahead.
It was a real pleasure to make this very special and personalised birthday present for a very lucky man. An 18ct gold cuff bracelet with engraved message on the inside.
Many thanks to those new and familiar faces who visited our Cambridge Open Studios this year. It was very busy and following on I have had a nice range of commissions to keep me busy! Here are a flavour - silver necklaces, gold and silver ring, gold earrings and silver bracelets and bangles
I am looking forward to exhibiting again with artist Sarah Blake this coming weekend and also 15th/16th July. If you're in Cambridge do visit! Here's a taste of work on show ...
Cambridge Open Studios - jewellery and art
Last year I went to an exhibition celebrating 150 years of the birth of Georg Jensen in Denmark. There was an extensive collection of silverware and jewellery made by him and his contempories. It was a very inspiring exhibition and I'm now working on a new collection of jewellery with some wonderful blue moonstones, a gemstone he used used in many pieces of his jewellery.
A varied month of making; some personal pieces including remodelling 9ct rose gold into a pendant and an engraved silver heart pendant.
If your Mother loves Contemporary scandistyle silver jewellery I have a selection available through my etsy shop. For other enquiries of other pieces of jewellery on this site please use the contact page. Some of my favourite techniques are in these pieces of jewellery in the image; hammering, fusing and forging to create various textures to the silver.
Not sure where the last month went it seemed to whizz by - I was kept busy in the studio making some commissioned silver rings. I do like the subtle satin silver ring which was a present for a man - a nice finish if you don't like things too shiny!
It's nice at this time of year to look back on some of the commissions and new designs of jewellery I made over the last year. It was an enjoyable year of making - one of the highlights being a contemporary jewellery collection in 18ct gold for Primavera, Cambridge.
I am looking forward to a time to rest over the Festive season - many thanks for your support this year. Look out for new designs coming in 2017!
Hope you have a peaceful and joyous yultide.
